Woodlands Close, Newton-with-Scales

Scale: 6.9 acres, up to 50 dwellings

Hollins Strategic Land has submitted a planning application on a sustainable site for up to 50 units off Woodlands Close, Newton-with-Scales. In an authority with an acknowledged shortfall in housing, the scheme will provide a broad range of market and affordable homes for local people, including families and young starters. The outline application proposes to retain and enhance the existing pond alongside installation of wildlife hibernacula, wildflower planting and sustainable drainage systems. The proposed development will also retain existing hedgerow and trees with the provision of high quality open spaces.

The Government requires all Local Authorities to provide enough new housing to meet objectively assessed needs and also any housing needs that cannot be met by neighbouring authorities. The proposal will help contribute to the urgent need for new housing in a highly sustainable location outside the Greenbelt.
