Hill Lane, Blackrod

Scale: 9.4 acres, up to 110 dwellings

Hollins Strategic Land has submitted a planning application for up to 110 units off Hill Lane, Blackrod. The scheme will provide a broad range of market and affordable homes for local people. Whilst the proposals are in outline the development will provide a network of high quality open spaces through the site alongside ecological enhancement measures such as hedgerow retention, pond creation and new native tree planting.

The need for new housing in Bolton is pressing; the Government requires all Local Authorities in England and Wales to provide enough new housing to meet objectively assessed needs. On this basis, Bolton does not currently have sufficient housing land available based on either historical data or the latest projections and this shortfall is growing. The proposal will help contribute to the urgent need for new housing in a highly sustainable location outside the Greenbelt.
