Hollins Strategic Land has submitted an outline planning application for up to 170 dwellings on land north of Dowbridge in Kirkham. The proposals will deliver a mix of homes, with up to 30% being affordable. The proposals will provide a significant element of quality open spaces around and within the site, with pathway linkages, pond enhancement, a community green, sustainable drainage features and native tree planting.
The site was identified as a strategic site for housing as part of the Preferred Options document. Fylde Borough Council have persistently under-delivered against its housing targets and the Council have acknowledged there is currently no five-year housing land supply. The proposal will considerably contribute to decreasing this shortfall in a highly sustainable location which will result in economic, social and environmental benefits.
On 19th February 2016, HSL lodged an appeal against the failure of Fylde Borough Council (FBC) to give notice of its decision within the appropriate period. A Public Inquiry is scheduled to start on 22nd November 2016.
