Hollins Strategic Land has submitted an application for up to 75 dwellings on a sustainable site in Galgate, within the local authority of Lancaster City Council. The scheme will provide an appropriate mix of market and affordable dwellings. The proposals include an extensive area of Public Open Space that will serve the entire village, aimed at meeting an identified local shortfall of open space.
Lancaster City Council are preparing a new Local Plan Allocations document that includes the re-allocation of large swathes of Green Belt land for mixed use development. As the site at Galgate is outside the Green Belt, it offers an opportunity to provide housing in the short term in a sustainable location.
